Carrotmob Results

We raised a grand for Carpe Diem and both regulars and non-regulars alike went out to support the event! The promotional strategy used social media and traditional media.  Social networking sites likes Justmeans, facebook, twitter, and this blog were used heavily. In addition, guerrilla marketing definitely made a difference for the downtown Hoboken area. Next time, getting people in a room to talk about why it is important and how to further get the word out is a surefire way to get more support. The fun part is being creative with how to find those people who are interested in joining.

The biggest plus about the event was that NJ’s state news agency, News12NJ did a spot before the event, we were also mentioned on Time.com (yeah!), and Fox News also did a piece on the event. The two day event brought a lot of attention to Carpe Diem. The residual media coverage was not something that I expected but is popping here and there. For example, a NYC station wanted to cover it as well as a college station in NY. There is defininetely interest in NYC media, that is for sure.

As for the New York City carrotmob, there is certainly enough people in NYC for a real statistical chance of having an organizer in there somewhere.

Carrotmob Promotion

by andy on April 2, 2009

It is important to remember that Carrotmob can be replicable anywhere in the world, by anyone who can follow the Carrotmob guidelines. This is the first Carrotmob in New Jersey, and want to meet people who want to do this in NJ/Philly Metro and NYC Metro area, contact me.

Planning this event is an exciting experience. One of my favorite things is learning from past Carrotmob organizers.  I have learned how to better approach a business, build a small coalition of supporters to help spread the word, and a lot about wordpress!

It would be great to have a carrot walking around the streets of Hoboken during the month of April…Yeeeeeeeees!!! It would be!! There is something about the smiley face that makes me laugh. To see this in action, I found a youtube video that is hilarious. The carrot dances. It twists. It turns. Simply awesome – check it out, dancing food.

Send me a note if you can mail me a carrot costume.

Economist article

A lot of people have asked me about the Economist article that mentions Carrotmob and the company that owns it, Virgance. Here is that article. The article draws parallels on the similarities between Virgance and the Obama campaign. Both use grassroots tools to spur community activism, one just does it to affect how business operates, the other propelled political strategy to new heights.

Carrotmob is Scaleable and Replicable

by andy on February 27, 2009

Before there was a CM in Boken, there was one in Kansas City, MO. I flew out there a few months ago to check out a cool, undiscovered gem of a city, which I recommend visiting, but also to meet the team there. I got some great feedback and got lots of answers from Scott, Babette, and Jamie, for which I am grateful. With that said, you don’t have to meet with someone to first have a CM. If you are in Miami and want to have one there, great! Bogota, como estas amigos – quiere un Carrotmob, hagalo! Paris, you want to have one – do it up!

This CM model is replicable and scaleable. Check out the Kansas City CM
