Want a Green Collar Job? Read this.

by andy on May 1, 2009

Attention! Tomorrow and Sunday those who want to get a crash course in Building Performance Institute (BPI) training can sign up for the weekend of May 9th and 10th! The BPI weekend will prepare you to take the BPI test. By passing that, you will earn a certification that holds value for an employer who wants weatherization and energy efficiency projects. This is a perfect example of a “green collar job” – a job that helps the environment and society. The first job you will get is most likely a Building Analyst.
For more info go here http://www.bpi.org/content/contractors/faq.html

The trainer course will take place in New York City, is FREE, and is through the Win Win Campaign, a super awesome project supported by the Manhattan Borough President’s office. For a video on that check this out:

  1. Moveon.org is coordinating nationwide press conferences on May 28th at 10am to encourage Congress to create a strong and far reaching energy bill. The local Hoboken-Jersey City Moveon Council is bringing together local businesses fostering energy efficiency or creating renewable energy to present how the Waxman bill will impact their business, their customers, the local economy, and the global environment.

We are still looking for a location at this point but we have already lined up clean energy local companies that should offer great insight into the local push towards a greener and cleaneer world.
The presentation and press conference will be open to the public and we hope that all those in the area who are interested will come out and join us for this event.
More information will be posted on our blog at:http://jerseycity-hoboken-moveon.blogspot.com/ Please spread the word. We can be reached by e-mail at jc.h.council@gmail.com
